personal sustainability
As we see record high burnout and record low disengagement in offices around the globe, the idea that leaders, in particular, need to be proactive about developing personal sustainability resonates. Why? Because we set the tone for our people.
Here are three rules of thumb to help you evaluate your habits today and make quick, straightforward adjustments to the way you work.

the value of a coach
Growing up, I was a multi-sport athlete. I loved every game. I loved growing. I loved winning. And I developed a huge admiration for my coaches. They loved the game, growth, and winning too... but their impact came by harnessing the potential the players on the floor (or in the pool!). Providing perspective, advice, structure, encouragement, and accountability to get the best out of each of us... so we could achieve the best as all of us.

3 Coaching Questions
Coaching questions are compelling because they are relevant and open-ended. They attune you to something bigger than your next meeting, next firefight, or next five minutes. In my work with leaders of every stripe, I find that the act of responding to thoughtful, personalized questions brings both epiphany and joy. It's fun to find another level of self-awareness. Even when the questions are challenging. My theory is that this is due to a deeply human need for focused, relational conversation. Time spent with someone who genuinely cares about our growth and sense of purpose and wellbeing.
That someone can be a coach like me. Or it can be yourself!
